JT is Back… ‘Shirt & Tie” …What do i think?
Here’s what i think…. ‘ba da ba ba ba I’m loving it’!
My opinion is simple really…. enough of everyone making the same type of song already… every other beat in the charts is EDM (Electronic Dance Music) by RnB/Pop acts….so when artist like Miguel, Robin Thicke, Frank Ocean, Jill Scott, R Kelly, Brandy, India Irie, Alicia Keys, Marsha Ambrosious, Esperanza Spalding, Lloyd, The Robert Glasper Project, Maxwell to name only a few release good music you are thankful.
Justin is clearly a high profile act and therefore his release will eclipse any other efforts made by some of the above artist mention, not to say there music is less worthy of exposure…its just the politics of the industry. That being said…..i am personally super pleased that Justin is back!!!
‘Shirt & Tie’ echoes the soulful vocal arrangements that we have been missing in the national charts which many before him such as R Kelly, Marvin Gaye etc can be felt through the dance-floor friend Timbo aka Timbaland produced track.
We all know that JT and Timbo aka Thomas Crown have great musical chemistry, it always sounds like they just get in the studio and vibe the f**k out, they have fun, you can hear it because the songs they make groove, the beat & vocals always marry oozing swag, oozing funk, oozing their many musical influences that go back to James & Al Green.
SO YES I AM PERSONALLY HAPPY with ‘SHIRT & TIE’… Dope harmonies, slick subject, …its grown folk music, not for kids that wanna JUMP UP & DOWN Fist pumping to the latest craze (Yo i’m all for that kids….trust me i love Dance/Bass music too) But there is time and place for Fist Pumpin & special time for putting on your SHIRT n TIE fellas, Classy evening outfit ladies, and hitting the dancefloor … showing off your best 2 step, doing the hustle, and groovin to the music …feeling the love…..feeling yourself, FEELING GOOD.
The slow jam intro on ‘SHIRT N TIE’ is right up my street and again proving how much fun JT and Timbo have together, they just WILE OUT….bringing back the 90’s ‘bump n grind’…’freek n you’ era back….. to the dance floor (the good ole days).
NOT EVERY COMEBACK has to be an EXPLOSION, red carpet, paparrazi entrance to the charts…. why can’t someone EASE their way in through the back door, and show you what you’ve been missing without even realising it hmmm?
ANY CRITICS bashing this song are ASS-HOLES….simple, your a slave to the current state of the charts that you’ve come to expect more of the same & forgotten the FEEL GOOD FACTOR in music…. go listen to some MARVIN GAYE…. JODECI…. STEVIEWONDER…. R KELLY & then tell me that ‘SHIRT n TIE’ isn’t simply GOOD RnB!!!
I GUESS SOME FOLK REALLY DONT KNOW A GOOD SONG TILL THEY SEE A VIDEO over n over again….(dear oh dear…tut tut tut) & Please stop comparing the 1st single to ‘Like I Love You’, or ‘Sexy Back’
You cannot duplicate ‘Justafied’, or ‘Future Sex Love Sound’ instead you get a NEW CHAPTER telling the story of who JT is now and where he is at in this part of his Journey, so lets all just enjoy the RIDE of what will be ‘The 20/20 Experience!!!!
